• Proven written, oral, and comprehension proficiency in English/other language(s).

• At least 1 year’s experience as a professional medical or legal interpreter, additional experience a plus.

• B.A. Degree or equivalent, including coursework in medical terminology and cross-cultural training.

• Professional language affiliations American Translators Association (ATA), National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT), etc.

• Certification as medical interpreter in “Bridging the Gap” 40-hour program or equivalent specifically for medical interpreting. (For information about CHIT and training dates go to Health Promotion Council.
